2011 Summer Science Research Program

The Summer Science Research Program (SSRP) at Barry University, June 20 – July 1, 2011. Students entering 10th and 11th grades will gain “hands-on” research experience, use state-of-the-art equipment, learn molecular biology techniques, and heighten their awareness of career opportunities in the biological sciences. The program is funded by Publix Super Markets Charities; there are no additional costs to the student participants. Laboratory space is limited to 20 students.

Women's History Coalition of Miami Dade Scholarship

Each year, the Woman’s History Coalition of Miami-Dade recognizes six women that have made major contributions to the South Florida communities.

To recognize the 2011 honorees, the Woman’s History Coalition of Miami-Dade is sponsoring an essay contest to provide one (1) woman student that plans to study government, civics, or social services with a $1,000 scholarship.

The essay contest rules are as follows:
o Student must be a part of the graduating class of 2011.
o Student must have made preparations to begin college in 2011.
o Student must be planning to major in government, civics, or social services.
o Student must have a 3.0 grade point average or higher.
o Student must complete the application (see attachment).
o All entries are due by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
o Students must submit a 300-500 word essay.
 The Essay topic is “How I Envision Using My Education to Prepare for a Career to Help Women.”

Scholarships

The 5th Annual Dr. Willie L. Golden "Last Chance" Scholarship seeks to provide (5) five $1000.00 scholarships to deserving students who are graduating seniors from Dade and Broward Counties with a GPA between 2.5 and 2.9.
